The Public Works Department of the Shillong Municipal Board is responsible for:
Implementing the various schemes of the SMB and
Providing technical support to the other branches
Maintaining records of the SMB assets and records of schemes and works taken up.
The SMB assets include : Public drain, footpath/Cemented Road, Water Tank , Building (Quarters & office), Trenching Ground at Marten, water sources, plot of land etc.
